The Children’s Discovery Museum (CDM) in Grand Rapids is offering FREE admission for all students & teachers as well as $350 Bus Transportation Assistance for groups of 20 or more students! Adult Chaperones are welcome at a reduced admission of $6.
Our educators will lead students on a discovery experience that will enrich their learning.
1. The ever-popular “Dino Dig”, Ideal for Pre-School - 4 grade
Children excavate bones from a large beast, create fossils from clay and plaster, and play a Dinosaur matching game.
2. Where the Wind Blows - Pre-school & Kindergarten
Discover what blows in the wind. We’ll explore hot, cold and dry wind. Children play a wind game and create a wind project.
3. Squiggle - Pre-school - 1st grade
Children use small motor skills to create objects with yarn, and make String Art.
4. All I Need to Know, I Learned from the “Wizard of Oz” - 3rd - 5th grade
A guided tour of the 1892 Judy Garland Historic House with discussion and Q&A time surrounding President Abraham Lincoln’s carriage showcased in our Gallery. You may also select an artistic, literary or scientific project in our studio derived from the Wizard of Oz.
Free-time activities include River Town, and Treesa, our favorite Talking Tree, along with the Mississippi River lock and dam water table.
CDM is open 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. for all school groups every Mon. through Fri., during the months of Jan., Feb., Mar., Apr., May, Sept., Oct., Nov. and Dec.
